Anyone know answer to this? I saw him play the new material solo last Fall, and it was great. I'm guessing he & Zach Gill will play some together, but was wondering if Neil was bringing drummer (Ian??), bass, 2nd guitarist etc. Cheers all!
saw him in la. he had with him adam parfitt on guitar/mandolin and andy hall on bass (who were also with him at the two southern california shows last year).
raymond richards was playing pedal steel, though i think this may have only been for this particular show (neil explained to the audience that raymond had never played with them before, but they had practiced a few songs during the soundcheck. raymond is a southern california resident who has played live with mojave 3 before), and zach gill joined them on piano for a couple of songs.
there was no drummer.
Neil says.. "will be playing as a 3 piece on most of the shows. having the odd friend sit in as well...i think the last week in us will have have extra percusion.. we've been playing some slowdive tunes as well."
slowdive songs live? cannot wait to hear those! 
wow, Neil was incredible last night in St. Paul, MN at the Turf Club. Making his first appearance in the Twin Cities in quite a while, he mesmerized the crowd. He played a mix of his solo material and a bunch of Mojave 3 songs, with his 3 person band that included a bass player and a great guitar/mandolin/banjo player.
Oh yeah, his 3 song encore closer was 'alison'. That just totally made my night!
Did that ever sound so good with just guitar, bass and mandolin.
And it was so nice to have a great little chat with Neil both before and after the show.
^^^ sounds like a great show, I wish he would have come a little closer to my part of the state.

I've uploaded a recording of 'Alison' from Schuba's, Chicago, 3-19-09. It's in FLAC format, so you'll have to convert it to WAV or MP3 yourself. Or just use VLC player to play it as is.

thats so great he's playing some slowdive tunes wish he'd do a euro tour!
Neil played two great shows in NY at two very different venues. Union Hall in Brooklyn is standing room and Joe's Pub is a sitting/eating theater. Both were great and he played "40 Days" and "Alison" both nights. He/they also played 3 or 4 new songs so hopefully that means a new record is in the works.
Damn. Neil played 40 days followed by Alison at Joe's pub a few Saturday's ago. I said to the person that sat next to me, "I hope there's a taper in the audience". Because I've never seen him so eager to play some songs from the slowdive era. These songs sounds really good in this format.
A few days later nothing but this broken link from an Avalon Show...

I would love to go to one of Neil's show this year. Saw one of his gigs last year and it was awesome! Slowdive tunes sounds really fantastic! Keep us posted!
