Neil to be filmed at the Hultsfred Festival in Sweden

I received the following news from Neil’s manager:
“The Swedish Hultsfred festival website will record (audio and visual) this debut show of Neil’s band so fans can watch it over the internet.”

I think this will be available either at or maybe at I’m not sure. As soon as it’s available, I’ll post the direct link.

NEIL HALSTEAD US Borders Tour – dates coming soon!

Beggars US have posted the following information about the up and coming Neil Halstead Tour in the USA:

“Neil Halstead is coming back for a July tour of both clubs and Borders Stores. Yes, that’s Neil Halstead from Mojave 3 whose debut solo album “Sleeping On Roads” has created quite a stir these past few months. This will be Halstead’s third (but not necessarily final) tour off this album – he’s been playing to packed houses and captive audiences since the album’s release in February. On “Sleeping On Roads” Halstead’s trademark mix of exquisite, quasi-folk melodies and fragile, intimate vocals are clearly evident – he’s one of the very few singer-writers who actually deserves the Nick Drake comparisons – but this time they’re intricately wedded to gently swaying rhythms and an atmospheric groove. Tour details will be posted by the end of this week on the Beggars Group site.See you next time – thanks for listening.”

As soon as the dates are officially released, you should find them here. For the really impatient ones among you, eagle-eyed ‘Torr’ noticed that a few dates were posted on Pollstar. Please bear in mind that these dates are not confirmed, and could well be wrong/incomplete etc etc. So don’t go booking any tickets/trips until the official list is out ok! :-)

Neil on the road in Europe

As you should well know, Neil is currently on the road throughout Europe. If you get the chance to see him play live, say hello and buy him beers! And if you take any photos, or have a gig review, then please send them in.

I recieved a mail from ‘hungarianfrog’ who recently saw Neil play in Spain,

…”this saturday i went to see neil in madrid and it was a shame and a pity. at the beginning he was playing in a small venue on his own but in the last moment he was got to play in the benicassim festival party with a couple of bands. one of those bands is the most popular spanish independent band so you can imagine the venue was huge but when neil went out to play no one really cared about it, except a bunch of people that were interested in it and i can assure you we were too few compared to the rest of the audience. the public of that spanish band were not willing to pay attention to him and they were talking all the time… but really loud. i could listen to that unbearable murmur more than to neil’s songs. finally neil got angry and stopped playing, i think he just played 3 songs or something. i found the whole thing quite unfair and embarrassing”…

Anyhow, here’s the remaining dates for Europe (catch him while you can!)

12-Jun, Germany, Koeln, Gebaeude
14-Jun, Holland, Rotterdam, Music in My Head
15-Jun, Sweden, Hultsfred, Festival Stora Dans
