Me and my flatmate Jess went to the Louisiana in Bristol to see Neil Halstead. The Louisiana is a strange venue for him, but about the right size. I think he felt he died on stage, but he didn’t. He got a bit miffed with the amount of talking in the crowd at one point telling people there was a bar downstairs. I think if you pay your 7 quid you can do what you want myself. I think the acoustic set works - what a voice - but an additional sound would keep passing punters interested. He did most of the new lp and lots of Mojave 3. I shouted for High Hopes and he played it straight away - Jess’s fav song from the lp. Prayer for the Paranoid finished and he rushed off with no encore. Pity as if he had played “In Love With a View” it would have been a perfect night. We loved it and a few passing punters did too. We spoke to him after and he signed our CDs and said the next Mojave 3 lp has been recorded. Best song on the night: Martha’s Mantra. Rating 5/5.
