‘hungarianFrog’ made a recommendation on our message boards recently, which I’ve only just got around to checking out - I should have done it sooner. The Band is The Zephyrs, and the album is called “When the Sky Comes Down It Comes Down on Your Head”. I know nothing about this band, only that Rachel Goswell sings on the track ‘Setting Sun’, and it’s quite excellent!

And to quote some reviews: “The Zephyrs do a beautiful and seemingly impossible thing — they manage to combine the epic grandeur of Mogwai with the country-rock of Gram Parsons”… “When the Sky Comes Down is not only one of the best albums of 2001, but a rare perfect record. The nine songs flow with a psychedelic, somnambulant ambience — country music in slow motion”.
